Barcelona have officially announced the transfer of Hamza Abdelkarim. The club’s press service has confirmed that the Catalans have agreed to loan the Egyptian forward to Al-Ahly until 30 June 2026, with the option to buy at the end of the season.
The 18-year-old striker has already passed a medical, familiarised himself with the club’s infrastructure and will start training with Barcelona’s youth team in the coming days.
Abdelkarim is the first Egyptian footballer to play for Barcelona’s club system. The forward is a product of Al Ahly and plays for the Egyptian U-17 national team, where he was one of the best players at the last World Cup in his age group, scoring two goals and setting up one more in four matches. Abdelkarim reached the round of 16 with the Egyptian national team, but the Pharaohs lost to Switzerland.
He’s already made his debut in the African Champions League and played a few matches in the Egyptian Cup as part of Al-Ahly.
