The South Korean shopping centre Shinsegae Centum City in Busan is officially the largest in the world, according to the Guinness Book of Records. It is more than 293,900 square metres in size and is bigger than the famous Macy’s in New York. It is still bigger than any of its competitors.
The Shinsegae Centum City shopping complex in South Korea is officially recognised as the largest shopping centre in the world. It is 293,900 square metres in total. This was reported by Oddity Central.
The centre is in the city of Busan. In 2009, it became bigger than Macy’s and has held the world record ever since.
Shinsegae Centum City has 16 floors and about 700 shops. But it’s not just a shop. The complex also includes:
- Galleries where you can see art
- A place where you can go ice skating
- A golf course with 60 tees for practising
- There are a few cinemas
- A traditional Korean jimjilbang is a bathhouse with separate areas for men and women
- A tall building with offices
- A public park with a dinosaur and pirate theme
- The centre is very big. It can take several days to see everything
Shinsegae Centum City has also done well financially. It is the only store in South Korea to have achieved sales of 2 trillion won (approximately $1.38 billion) for two years in a row.

Even though there are new, large shopping projects in various countries, none of them are as big as the Busan complex.
